oceania group
Oceania Group is one of New Zealand’s largest owners and operators of retirement villages with 24 villages across 48 locations in New Zealand. The company has over 1,000 independent living villas and apartments and employs 3,000 staff. Topline Trade Services has worked with the company for several years and is responsible for repairs and on-going maintenance in homes and villages throughout Auckland.
West Harbour Lodge based in Massey, Auckland, is part of the Oceania Group and provides rest home and hospital care to seniors. The facility has views over Royal Reserve Park and has large communal areas, a craft room, an on-site hairdressing salon and a laundry.
Laundry facility in a spin
The huge facility has a central laundry room which runs 24/7. Topline was called in when the computerised commercial laundry machines kept turning themselves off because the old plumbing system could not supply the correct volume and water temperature to cope with the amount of washing needing to be laundered. Given the huge number of patients and retirees living in the village, it was imperative that the machines were up and running as quickly as possible to meet the constant demand.
Topline prevents washout
The Topline team, led by Operations Manager Willie Downie, knew the site very well as they have been carrying out maintenance and repair work at West Harbour Lodge for several years. Willie says, “The old system simply couldn’t cope with the huge amount of water that was needed so we specified a stand-alone dedicated hot water system run on natural gas.
