Extra-curricular activities for Topline Trade Services
Dilworth School is located across two campuses in Remuera and Epsom in Auckland, providing an excellent education to boys from Year 5 to Year 13.
Topline Trade Services has enjoyed a long association with the junior school and is its preferred supplier when it comes to maintenance, repairs and servicing work.
Over the years, Topline has undertaken many projects, including refitting and installing boilers and providing maintenance services. More recently the company was responsible for upgrading a plant room attached to the main kitchen on the junior campus.
New technology scores top marks
Topline’s Operations Manager Willie Downie oversaw the project. This involved disconnecting and removing the existing boiler, hot water cylinder, associated pipework, valves and flues. The original plant room was then stripped back before the Topline team installed plywood sheets to the walls to allow mounting of the new equipment.
Willie had specified the installation of 2 x Tahiti 85kw condensing boilers complete with new flue systems to the exterior, he comments, “The Tahiti boilers are wall-hung and include technology which allows lower consumption, boosted performance, and a reduction of emissions of pollutants. Ideal for small-sized central plants, this equipment is perfect for supplying the hot water required in a school kitchen.”
Keeping the kids warm
The team also installed 2 x boilers to provide for the demand of domestic hot water and underfloor heating. The boilers were connected through the manifold system to provide heating to the existing underfloor heating panels and to prioritise heating to the new 1000 litre domestic hot water cylinder.
The boilers circulate heating water at 70°C to the underfloor heating panels and the hot water cylinder.
Willie says, “Once the boilers were in place, we connected the gas supply pipework re-using existing regulators and relief regulator. We then installed a backflow prevention device RPZ to the incoming water supply, and put in relief drains to discharge water to the exterior of the plant room.
All of the work was undertaken during the holidays so that there was no disruption to the teachers and pupils at Dilworth. Everything was installed and tested, ready for the start of the new school term.”
